Rhumology: The Angostura Mojito
Rhumology is our weekly ode to the rich cultural spirit of the Caribbean, rum, and the age old formula of legend - one of sour, two of sweet, three of strong and four of weak.
2 parts Angostura 5 Year Old Rum
4 Lime wedges
12 mint leaves
1 part Sugar Syrup
1 part freshly squeezed lime juice
Cracked or Crushed Ice (Hit Cubed Ice inside Tea Towel if you don’t have crushed ice)
Add lime wedges, lime juice, mint & sugar syrup into a tall glass.
Muddle the ingredients with rolling pin (press, don’t mash!).
Fill the glass two-thirds with crushed or broken ice
Add Angostura 5 Year Old Rum
Stir frantically to bring all ingredients to the surface
Pack with more crushed ice and top with just a splash of soda.
Add four dashes of Angostura aromatic bitters.
(Note: the glass should be over-whelmed with crushed ice)
